A fear I hear often is the belief that once you clean your carpets, they re-soil more quickly. This is not true if the cleaning is done correctly!
MY IICRC training and experience taught me that leaving carpets residue free after professional cleaning is a most crucial factor. If they are not left residue free, the soapy residue does act as a magnet to dirt and carpets will re-soil quickly.
Hot water extraction is the most effective at removing undesirable elements from your carpet and rinsing residue out.
Just think about it – when washing clothes, dishes, hair or cars there is always a final rinsing process involved to achieve the best cleaning. The same is true for carpet cleaning.
Another reason the rinsing step is so important is because carpet protector (Scotchgard or Dupont Teflon) will not be effective if applied to carpets which have residue left in them.
Hot water extraction with the truck-mounted unit and a trained technician have the best capability for powerful cleaning and rinsing and will not overwet your carpets. (It is not the method which overwets carpets, it is poor equipment and untrained technicians.)
